The FINANCIAL — In October 2018 the Producer Price Index (PPI) for Industrial Products increased by 1.5 percent over September 2018, while the index increased by 5.9 percent compared to October 2017.
The prices for manufactured products increased by 1.5 percent compared to the previous month, resulting in a 1.19 percentage point contribution to the overall monthly PPI change. There was an increase in the prices for food products, beverages and tobacco (1.9 percent), rubber and plastic products (4.4 percent), also for chemicals, chemical products and man-made fibers (2.1 percent).
The prices increased by 3.3 percent for the group of products from mining and quarrying, contributing 0.21 percentage points to the overall index change.
The annual PPI rate was mainly affected by price changes for the following products:
Manufactured products: the prices increased by 5.0 percent, contributing 4.1 percentage points to the overall annual index growth. There was an increase in the prices for food products, beverages and tobacco (4.7 percent), also for basic metals and fabricated metal products (8.0 percent);
Electrical energy, gas, steam and hot water: the prices increased by 13.1 percent and contributed 1.75 percentage points to the overall PPI change.
