The FINANCIAL — In September 2018 the Producer Price Index (PPI) for Industrial Products increased by 0.9 percent over August 2018 and by 5.5 percent compared to September 2017.
Prices for manufactured products increased by 0.9 percent compared to the previous month, resulting in a 0.74 percentage point contribution to the overall monthly PPI change.
There was an increase in the prices for food products, beverages and tobacco (1.2 percent), basic metals and fabricated metal products (1.0 percent), also for other nonmetallic mineral products (0.6 percent). Prices increased by 1.3 percent for the group of products from mining and quarrying, contributing 0.08 percentage points to the overall index change.
The annual PPI rate was mainly affected by price changes for the following products:
Manufactured products: the prices increased by 4.5 percent, contributing 3.65 percentage points to the overall annual index growth.
There was an increase in the prices for food products, beverages and tobacco (4.1 percent), also for basic metals and fabricated metal products (5.5 percent);
Electrical energy, gas, steam and hot water: the prices increased by 14.1 percent and contributed 1.87 percentage points to the overall PPI change.
