The FINANCIAL — Aston Business School’s Professional Mentoring Scheme for 2011/12 has been successfully launched, with its aim to provide second year undergraduates with ‘real life’ business advice and an insight into leading organisations, according to Aston Business School.
Nearly 100 business professionals representing organisations including Accenture, Barclays, BMW, Cap Gemini, Jaguar Land Rover, KPMG, Lloyds Banking Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, TUI Travel and many successful and innovative SMEs have signed up to mentor Aston University undergraduates to pass on their skills, knowledge and workplace expertise.
The scheme, now in its second year also aims to support business professionals in their own development and to provide a platform in developing their own business networks. This ABS-led programme is one strand of the University’s larger Mentoring Scheme. This provides a range of opportunities for current students and alumni to work with and support Aston undergraduates include Aston’s established Peer Mentor and Alumni Mentor Schemes.
Second year students involved in the Professional Mentoring Scheme have been matched to professional mentors with skills directly relevant to their degrees and career preferences within a variety of areas including finance, marketing, logistics, sales, engineering, human resources and Information Technology.
