The FINANCIAL — Dr. Phil Eyre spoke about EU Market Access Issues and how businesses may assist their companies to do business in Europe. The professor from France, Director of MBA Programs at Grenoble Graduate School of Business (GGSB) delivered a free seminar for those managers interested in EU neighbourhood policy and special market access/trade concessions offered to companies in Georgia and who are seeking suitable executive MBA program.
“The problem is that everybody thinks the European market is beyond reach because there are some trade barriers. However the truth is that the EU has devised many preferential systems to allow Georgian products on to its market. That’s the message we wanted to get across so that Georgian companies become aware that there are special preferences when it comes to accessing the EU market,” David Iremadze, Director of Graduate Studies, told The FINANCIAL.
The Caucasus School of Business (CSB) is part of the Caucasus University together with the Caucasus School of Law and Caucasus School of Media. Caucasus School of Business was the first educational institution to receive an International Quality Accreditation and has highly regarded Baccalaureate, Masters and PhD programs in business. CSB has recently announced the third intake of the innovative Dual MBA degree program in cooperation with the Grenoble Graduate School of Business targeted at the professionals with a proven track record of handling significant responsibilities in various types of organization.
“What really matters is knowledge of the contemporary business systems, the ability to satisfy the quality parameters and standards the EU sets for various products and ability to appeal to the European customers. The GGSB-CSB Dual Degree Master of Business Administration program, among other things, strives to provide global vision to its participants so that they transform from being good managers to being international business leaders. That is basically the connection between the topic of the seminar and the MBA program that is being promoted,” declared Iremadze.
“There should be continued development and adaptation of Georgian offers. In a country like Georgia there’s a great potential as the country is rich in mineral waters and high quality wine. So, the challenge for Georgia is mainly to identify areas where Georgia could compete in and one of the areas I think could be tourism,” Eyre told The FINANCIAL.
GGSB is an international business school within Grenoble Ecole de Management, one of the few business schools worldwide to have achieved triple accreditation from AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS.
GGSB is regularly ranked by the international press among the best European business schools, especially for its international and intercultural programs.
The GGSB MBA Program is one of the most reputable ones in the world. Following immediately after the seminar DR Phil Eyre spoke about the exciting opportunity to earn an MBA degree from this leading institution through the dual degree program it has with the CSB. During the MBA Open House, current students and the program directors answered questions about this world renowned, cost and time effective and prestigious Master of Business Administration program for experienced professionals.
“The aim of my talk, which is the EU and Georgia with the focus on trade, is to emphasize the continued development of the EU-Georgia relations in terms of trade figures, and FDI. Obviously current relationships are evolving in the region as last week Ukraine was given the go ahead to WTO entry. That will indirectly have an impact on Georgia as well. There is a market access with the EU Generalized System of Preferences, so the challenge now is to adapt Georgian products to foreign markets,” stated the professor.
As Dr. Eyre explained, the purpose of his visit was to give a presentation and support the partnership that exists between the Caucasus School of Business and the Grenoble Graduate school of Business,”
The partnership between CSB and GGSB has been running since 2006.
“Now we have the third intake of the MBA program. We started the first intake with 14 students and expect to increase their number up to 25 for this intake. These students have to have a minimum 3 years of professional experience of handling significant responsibilities. Once these students complete the core courses here in Tbilisi, they have the opportunity to come to Grenoble to enrol in their respective specialization modules. For instance, we have over 15 students coming on February 18,” noted Dr. Eyre.
The professor spoke of the benefits the chambers of commerce and business schools could provide to the local market.
“The chambers of commerce and business schools that provide educational services benefit much from each other. For instance, this morning we visited AmCham and the French embassy in Georgia. It’s very useful to know which foreign investors are interested in Georgia, which companies could take business interns, and which companies could provide help with the financial side for completing an MBA. Also, it was great to learn that Franco-Georgian chamber of commerce will soon be launched in Tbilisi.” concluded Dr. Eyre.
The deadline to apply for the third intake of the GGSB-CSB dual MBA degree program (www.dualmba.csb.ge) is June 1st, 2008.
