The FINANCIAL — According to Civil Georgia, the decision about accession to the NATO should be made by the peoples of Georgia and Ukraine and not by the political elites of these countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 8.
“We will agree with any choice of Ukrainian and Georgian peoples, exactly the [choice of] peoples and not their political elites,” Russian news agencies quoted Putin as saying at a joint press conference with visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
During the January 5 plebiscite in Georgia 77% of Georgian citizens voted for Georgia’s integration into NATO.
