The FINANCIAL — Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), one of the leading developers and innovators of advanced wireless technologies, products and services, on August 24 announced that the company has committed US$50,000 to support relief and recovery efforts for the flood disaster wrought by Typhoon Morakot in Taiwan.
"The funds have today been donated to the Taiwan Red Cross," Qualcomm reports.
“Qualcomm is proud to make this contribution to the Taiwan Red Cross which is providing much-needed disaster relief for the communities, families and individuals affected by typhoon Morakot,” said Jing Wang, executive vice president of Qualcomm Asia Pacific and Middle East/Africa. “Qualcomm commends the Red Cross and emergency services in Taiwan for their tremendous efforts in the aftermath of this unfortunate flood and we are proud to play a role in the recovery. We also extend our sympathy and best wishes to those who have been affected.”
In addition to Qualcomm's financial contribution of US$50,000 to the Red Cross, the Company's employees based in Taipei, Longtan and Hsinchu offices raised US$30,000 for the organization's emergency response efforts.
