The FINANCIAL — Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe BV, a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), and Telenor Connexion, the global provider of M2M connectivity solutions, on May 11 announced an agreement for Telenor Connexion to provide international wireless communication services for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and telematics applications to Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe.
Telenor will provide a flat fee SIM card running in GPRS /EDGE/UMTS in Western and Eastern Europe, allowing Qualcomm to meet its customer needs and coverage requirements for pan-European telematics services.
"Under this new agreement, Telenor Connexion, which is based in Sweden, will also enable Qualcomm to manage and monitor deployed SIM cards and associated traffic, resulting in enhanced service availability and quality for Qualcomm customers in Europe," Qualcomm announces.
“This agreement with Telenor Connexion is a key milestone for Qualcomm, allowing us to deploy our telematics and M2M services internationally with competitive international rates and simultaneously maintain our current Service Level Agreements with end users,” said Bill Karnazes, managing director of Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe. “It will also allow Qualcomm to rapidly implement its most recent innovative wireless communication technologies in all the deployed M2M products and services.”
“The cooperation with Qualcomm enables us to take advantage of the high growth potential outside of Sweden and expand our position globally,” said Per Simonsen, CEO at Telenor Connexion. “The M2M market has grown tremendously in recent years and is driven by an increasing demand for safety, energy efficiency and climate smart solutions, among others. The solution we offer together with Qualcomm is extremely versatile because it allows efficiencies and savings, both in the short-term and long-term.”
