The FINANCIAL — The rebels in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have released a Ukrainian pilot of the African Air Services Commuter (the Democratic Republic of the Congo).
Ukrainian News learned this from the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the statement, the negotiations with the rebels on the release of the Ukrainian pilot were held by the Mission of the United Nations for stabilization in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the Ukrainian Embassy in Gabon.
The Ukrainian pilot and a local pilot were seized by the rebels in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on September 1.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, seven Ukrainian seamen from among the crew of the Island of Luck motor ship on February 1, 2010, returned to Ukraine after the Court of Kinshasa (the Democratic Republic of the Congo) absolved them.
The authorities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo suspected three Ukrainians from the Island of Luck ship arrested in October 2009 of murdering an illegal passenger, that country's citizen.
