The FINANCIAL — Two Regent’s degree programmes achieved top marks in this year’s National Student Survey (NSS).

The BA (Hons) International Events Management was placed equal first in the UK for student satisfaction, while the BSc (Hons) Psychology was in the top 10.

The University’s first-ever NSS results show a 100% student satisfaction rate in the survey category of Tourism, Transport and Travel, and 94% student satisfaction for satisfaction in Psychology, putting the University in sixth place.

The University recorded an overall satisfaction rate of 83 per cent, well above the benchmark of 78 per cent set by the NSS. Regent’s BA (Hons) Interior Design and BA (Hons) International Business programmes both ranked above the overall rate with 89 per cent student satisfaction, according to Regent’s University.

‘We are absolutely delighted with our NSS result, being top of the country for our international events management programme with a 100 per cent student satisfaction rating, and in the UK top 10 for psychology. These results are particularly pleasing given it is only our first year of participating in the National Student Survey,’ Vice Chancellor Professor Aldwyn Cooper said.

‘Regent’s has a long history as a college but has only been a University since 2013, so to already be competing so strongly in the NSS is a great testament to the quality of education we deliver and the support we provide to our students.

‘We are particularly unique as we are London’s only independent and not-for-profit university – meaning we invest our profits in our student experience – and will continue to do so. We recently opened our one-stop-shop Student Hub, launched a new app for students and initiated personal tutoring, with plans for an entrepreneurial centre in future.’

Professor Neil Martin, head of the Psychology programmes, said ‘I am absolutely thrilled by this result and delighted for our students and the Psychology team here at Regent’s. It’s a testament to our commitment to provide students with the best and most exciting education in Psychology- we started teaching our first accredited Psychology undergraduate degree at Regent’s in 2011; to have achieved this result in six years is spectacular.’

Andrew Kirby, head of the International Events Management programme, said ‘We are delighted with this achievement for the BAIEM programme and the University, and will be adding new features to continually maximise the strong student experience in the future.’

Regent’s also recorded an above-average participation rate at 73 per cent of its students, which was 24th in the country for participation.
