The FINANCIAL — As part of his official visit to Belarus the Georgian Vice Premier, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze met with the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarusian Parliament Vladimir Andreychenko, Head of the Group of Co-operation with Georgia at the Parliament of Belarus Vitali Miseve.
Participants of the meeting emphasized the excellent relations between the two countries at the level of parliaments and expressed their interest in developing co-operation in other areas as well, in particular, people-to-people contacts and business relations. Special mention was taken of the upcoming visit of the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze to Belarus scheduled for November 2017, which will give a fresh impetus to the further strengthening of parliamentary relations between the two countries.
Speaking about Georgia’s good investment climate and Belarusian tourists’ increasing interest in Georgia (the number of Belarusian visitors to Georgia has increased by 32% over the past 7 months), the representatives of the legislative body of Belarus expressed their readiness to organize various events to further contribute to the strengthening of trade-economic partnership between Georgia and Belarus.
Discussions also focused on the security situation in the occupied territories, and in the region as a whole. The Georgian Foreign Minister thanked Belarus for the support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to MFA of Georgia.
The Belarusian side expressed its gratitude for Georgia’s active support for Belarus in bilateral as well as multilateral formats. Special mention was taken of the C Hepatitis medications allocated by Georgia to Belarus. Successful cultural and people-to-people contacts were also highlighted.
