The FINANCIAL — Gordon Ramsay is to relaunch his flagship three-Michelin-starred restaurant on Chelsea’s Royal Hospital Road next month with a new interior and in partnership with Clare Smyth.
As Caterer and Hotelkeeper announced, the restaurant will reopen in early March following a four-week refurbishment, with Smyth heading up the restaurant as chef patron in partnership with Ramsay.
"I'm incredibly proud of Clare and what she has achieved,” Ramsay said. “She is an amazingly talented chef and the time is right for her to build on this. Restaurant Gordon Ramsay will always be very special to me and Clare becoming chef patron is testament to my partnership with, and trust in her.”
The restaurant’s new look will see the creation of a new chef’s table as well as a liquor bar. Overseen by Fabled Design, the restaurant’s new look will be inspired by Art Deco décor featuring luxurious materials.
Smyth said: “The refurbishment is Gordon’s and my celebration of all that makes Restaurant Gordon Ramsay so special.”
Smyth joined Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in 2002 as a chef de partie before leaving three years later as senior sous chef to train with some of the world’s most celebrated chefs, including Alain Ducasse at his three-Michelin-starred Louis XV in Monaco. Smyth returned in 2007 as head chef of the restaurant.
Restaurant Gordon Ramsay opened on the former site of Pierre Koffmann’s three-Michelin-starred La Tante Claire in 1998. It debuted with two Michelin stars the following year and was awarded three stars in 2001, an accolade it has retained for the past 12 years.
