The FINANCIAL — According to Khatuna Maghlakelidze, Director of the restaurant Tsiskvili, 2012 was overall another successful and stable year for the restaurant. Tsiskvili was named a winner of Golden Brand 2012 this year.
“From the day of our opening we received the status of restaurant-museum and many grand prizes have followed since then. We have steadily kept up the high quality and are now leaders on the Georgian restaurant market. This year we have been named winner of the Golden Brand awards for the eighth time. Winning this award is a very big motivation for us and I can proudly say that it perfectly represents our strong position on the market. The biggest success for me personally has been the gaining of customers’ trust over the years,” Maghlakelidze said.
“The number of our customers increased significantly in 2012. The effects of the economy and social situation in the country are periodically reflected in our customers and our restaurant business as well. We already have a huge number of loyal customers, but the development of tourism in Georgia is further increasing the number of our clients. Tsiskvili is the place where Georgian history, culture and art intermingle under one roof. The restaurant’s design expresses the Georgian character and the reaction this elicits in our customers is fitting,” Maghlakelidze said.
“It’s a kind of tradition that all foreign tourists in Georgia should visit Tsiskvili at least once. This tradition is an honour for us and also a big responsibility,” Maghlakelidze said.
According to Maghlakelidze, the main goal of Tsiskvili is to attract as many customers as they can and create maximum comfort for them so that each visit becomes a beautiful and unforgettable episode in their lives.
“Tsiskvili is famous for offering the highest standards of service and hosting. For this reason we decided to bring that standard to customers’ homes too. We therefore implemented a new direction – Restaurant Tsiskvili at Your House – whereby we serve at private, family events. Due to the fact that the preparation process for an event at home usually demands a great deal of the host’s time and energy, we instead offer our clients the possibility of a restaurant service at their home. Together with delicious dishes and professional service, you can also invite along professional dancers and singers who will make it an altogether unforgettable event. Our designers also work on making the space for the event beautiful,” Maghlakelidze said.
“It’s been a long time already since we first implemented our lunch service. Our corporate clients are the most frequent users of the lunch menu. Tour operators cooperate with us in this regard as well. We have a home delivery service which is most in demand during this busy time. Our corporate clients actively use this service too,” Maghlakelidze said.
“In regard to our corporate clients we are cooperating with such big companies as Lukoil, Wissol, Socar, Badagoni, Nemirov, Magti, Geocell, Tegeta Motors, Kvartsiti, tour operators, governmental structures, embassies and many others. We regularly have interesting and diverse offers for them. There is a special programme for open-air events also: meeting with Georgian dancers, baking bread in a traditional ‘Tone’, making ‘chacha’, being involved in the process of making ‘churchkhela’, roasting ‘mtsvadi’, and the performance of the famous song ‘Mravaljamieri’. As our restaurant encapsulates the Georgian spirit, we try our best to show our guests a traditional cultural approach and make them share the Georgian spirit with us,” Maghlakelidze said.
According to Maghlakelidze, as the number of their foreign guests increased, there appeared a demand to add foreign dishes to the menu.
“First of all we tried to offer our clients European dishes. So we now prepare delicious steaks and a wide range of seafood dishes in front of customers on demand. We make them with new and fresh sea products imported from Holland and other parts of Europe,” Maghlakelidze said.
“In 2013 we offered people the novelty of sushi and a Japanese menu. As you know Japanese cuisine is very delicious and popular the world over. So now all those people who love healthy products can visit Tsiskvili and enjoy our Japanese menu. Our professional chefs prepare such dishes as sushi rolls, spices, ‘pempurs’, ‘sashims’ and sweet rolls. We decided to catch up with modern tendencies and therefore began offering Japanese cuisine to our customers alongside our traditional menu offerings.”
“Georgian cuisine is diverse and exotic. The most popular dishes at Tsiskvili are ‘khachapuri’, ‘mtsvadi’, ‘mchadi’, ‘khinkali’, ‘chakapuli’, ‘shmeruli’, chicken in blackberry sauce and many others,” Maghlakelidze said.
“Due to the fact that the restaurant business is included in the category of hard-to-run businesses, it often requires appropriate decisions to be made quickly depending on the specifics of different situations. Fortunately, Tsiskvili has managed to overcome all the difficult situations it has encountered so far, and is now recognized as the most well-known and successful restaurant brand on the Georgian market. Our success is reflected in the recognition of many experts and customers. Tsiskvili has been the winner of Golden Brand nominations for eight years now,” Maghlakelidze said.
“This summer, as per tradition, there will summer events being held at Tsiskvili. Concert evenings with unforgettable programmes accompanied by Georgian fire dances and many other fascinating Georgian traditions. Throughout the summer beer festivals will be held on our Beer Square and in October a final competition will be held where the winner will be awarded a mass of prizes. We are also planning to present some new projects, though these are still being kept a secret for the moment,” Maghlakelidze said.
