The FINANCIAL — A series of road safety events has been held as part of a pilot project in Uzhgorod and Mukachevo in Ukraine, implemented under an EU technical assistance project for ‘Support to the implementation of the Transport strategy of Ukraine’.
The aim of the pilot project is to attract public attention to safety issues for all road users. As part of the campaign, traffic police gave road safety lessons at four preliminary schools in Uzhgorod and Mukachevo, teaching children road safety rules through interactive exercises, according to EU Neighbourhood Info.
Activities also include first aid courses for basic support for road accident victims for students of Uzhgorod National University and a group of Uzhgorod public transport drivers.
Other activities held over the course of October-November include information campaigns on the risk of mobile phone use on the roads, and cycling festivals held in Uzhgorod and Mukachevo.
