The FINANCIAL — Rosneft stock rose 3.43 percent at the start of trade on Moscow's MICEX stock exchange on January 17 in reaction to news late on January 14 that Rosneft had struck a deal with BP to swap 9.5 percent of its capital for 5 percent of BP, according to RIA Novosti.
The deal is worth an estimated $8 billion to each company.
At noon Moscow time on January 17, Rosneft stock was up 3.15 percent with shares up to 239.84 roubles. The MICEX rose 0.68 percent.
BP shares in New York also reacted positively to the news, with quoted prices rising over 3 percent to $49.25 per share.
BP shares quoted on the London Stock Exchange were also up, rising 1.9 percent to 509 pence.
