The FINANCIAL — ST. PETERSBURG. A prison in Russia's second-largest city, St. Petersburg, has become the first Russian penitentiary to open an account on popular micro-blogging site Twitter, according to RIA Novosti.
The Kresty prison has sent out six tweets so far after registering an official account, http://twitter.com/sizo_kresty.
In its latest tweet, the prison, built in 1892, promotes job vacancies. Earlier tweets invited viewers to learn more about its history.
Exiled communist leader Leon Trotsky was held in Kresty after the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917.
