Civil.Ge — President Saakashvili said on October 11, that the government should provide all the available assistance to the families living in the villages of Shida Kartli region, across the breakaway South Ossetia’s administrative border.
“This is our response to those scummy things the Russian occupants are doing there,” he told Governor of Shida Kartli region Zurab Arsoshvili, Minister of Agriculture Bakur Kvezereli and Minister of Environment Protection Goga Khachidze at a televised meeting on October 11.
“We should give everything to these people necessary in the winter period; they should feel socially more secured… If somewhere anything is done, first and foremost it should be done for Nikozi and other villages there,” Saakashvili said.
“Nikozi and other villages suffered most from the Russian aggression; these villages are target of the occupying forces day and night. We should expand social programs there,” he added.
The Governor of Shida Kartli region told the President, that because irrigation water was not supplied from the occupied territory, local farmers in the areas adjacent to the administrative border failed to cultivate their farmlands. The Minister of Agriculture said that the problem with the irrigation water would be resolved in the region next year.
