The FINANCIAL — As part of its ongoing partnership with international microfinance leader PlaNet Finance, SAP AG, is sponsoring the “Innovation/New Technologies” category in the second-annual PlaNet Finance International Microfinance Awards to be held November 10, 2009, in Paris.
The awards honor the top micro-entrepreneurs of 2009 as selected by a distinguished panel of judges chaired by Bernard Kouchner, France’s minister for foreign and European affairs.
Egyptian entrepreneur Mohamed Moussa was chosen to receive the 2009 “Innovation/New Technologies” award because of his use of micro-loans to launch and develop his business writing and publishing computer educational materials. His materials have been well received in the marketplace and are now used in a number of teaching institutes.
In June 2009, SAP announced a commitement to provide financial, software, and expert assistance to PlaNet Finance, a leading international non-profit organization with the mission to alleviate poverty through the development of microfinance. The collaboration is part of SAP’s long-term commitment to sustainability.
