The FINANCIAL — The Saudi Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia granted the President of Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage the authority to discuss with the Georgian side the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding on co-operation in the field of tourism.
Georgian Ambassador to the the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Giorgi Janjgava spoke extensively about the importance of this decision and fruitful relations between the two countries in his interview to the leading newspaper Al Jazeera, according to MFA of Georgia.
Accoridng to the Ambassador, this decision by Saudi Council of Ministers represents a prerequisite for further deepening relations between the two countries in the sectors of economy, trade and tourism and will considerably increase the number of Saudi Arabian tourists to Georgia and the amount of their investments. Giorgi Janjgava said that in 2017, compared to 2016, the number of tourists from Saudi Arabia increased by 300 percent.
According to the Ambassador, thanks to favourable investment climate in Georgia, Saudi Arabian investments exceeded 100 mln USD and bilateral trade turnover increased by 360%. Georgia continues to work towards raising awareness about the country’s investment opportunities.
Memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage and the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development comprises various aspects of bilateral co-operation.
