The FINANCIAL — Saudi Arabia says protesters in Damascus have stormed the Saudi embassy after the Arab League voted to suspend Syria's membership over its deadly crackdown on opposition to Bashar Assad's regime.
The official Saudi Press Agency says demonstrators entered the compound in the Syrian capital late Saturday, breaking windows and ransacking some areas within. The report gave no further details on the damage or whether the embassy was operating on Sunday.
It says the assault came after hundreds of protesters pelted the embassy with stones, following the Arab League decision.
