The FINANCIAL — Renovation works have started as part of an EU-funded project which aims to make Hola Prystan school and kindergarten in Ukraine more energy efficient.
A new solid fuel, energy-efficient boiler has already been installed in the boiler house which supplies heat to both institutions. The renovation of the attic and replacement of the existing windows with energy efficient alternatives are planned to be finalised by the end of 2017, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
The project is being implemented through the EU’s “Covenant of Mayors — Demonstration Projects” (CoM-DeP) programme. It also targets “Olimpiyets” school and kindergarten, which has undergone thermal refurbishment and implemented energy efficiency technologies, and will have its boiler house modernised by the end of 2018.
Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects (CoM-DeP) is a European Union programme in the Eastern Partner countries which supports small towns that have signed up to the Covenant of Mayors initiative to implement energy efficiency projects identified within their Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs), with grants as well as technical assistance. The support team of the CoM-DeP provides grants to 19 selected projects, as well as technical, procedural and communication assistance.
