The FINANCIAL — Georgia should refrain from recognizing the independence of Kosovo, regardless of whether other states will do that or not, Kote Gabashvili, a lawmaker from the ruling party, who chairs parliament’s committee for foreign relations, told Civil.Ge.
“Our position will be absolutely restrained and we should rule out any recognition of Kosovo,” Gabashvili said on February 18. “We should work intensively to prevent use of Kosovo precedent in respect of Georgia.”
In this context he emphasized on the importance of a meeting between Georgian and Russian presidents planned for February 21 in Moscow. “This meeting can either be followed by positive or negative developments. It is very hard to say something more at this stage,” MP Gabashvili added.
