The FINANCIAL — Sheremetyevo international airport has switched to the spring-summer flight schedule from March 27, 2016. New schedule will be available till the 29th of October 2016.
In the summer season the airlines will significantly increase the frequency of flights to the tourist centers of international and domestic tourism, will expand its route network, new airlines will come to Sheremetyevo.
From the first of June 2016 “Aeroflot-RA” will start operating regular flights to new European destinations: to Spanish cities on the Mediterranean sea which attract tourists with beautiful sandy beaches — Valencia and Alicante, as well as in one of the historical centers of France — Lyon. In addition, the airline will maintain flights to cities of Kazakhstan: Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Karaganda, Aktobe, Atyrau and Aktau, which were opened in winter season 2015-2016.
The flights of new airlines are scheduled in the spring-summer season in Sheremetyevo. From the third of June 2016, the national carrier of Malta — “Air Malta“airline consolidates all of its flights in Sheremetyevo. June 20, 2016, Tianjin Airlines begins its flights to a developed economic and cultural center of Tianjin, according to Sheremetyevo International airport.
In April, “Ikar” airline will begin its flights to Haikou on Hainan island. From May 16, 2016 “Delta Air Lines” will resume its flights Moscow — New York — Moscow, which were suspended for winter. The flights will be operated 5 times a week. Greek airline Ellinair will increase the number of flights to Thessaloniki from 2 to 7 times a week and will open flights to Athens, and on Corfu. “North wind” will start operating flights to Sochi and Simferopol.
In its turn, China Southern Airlines in addition to the existing flights from Sheremetyevo to Guangzhou will open a direct flight on the route Moscow — Guangzhou — Moscow, a flight to Urumqi will be performed year-round.
The airlines plan to significantly increase the frequency of flights on international routes: Tel-Aviv flights will be operated 5 times a day instead of 2, flights to Riga will be operated 7 times a day instead of 4, flights to Prague will be operated 9 times a day instead of 7, flights to Warsaw, Berlin, Milan will be operated 5 times a day instead of 4 and to Rome — 6 times a day instead of 5. The total number of flights to China will increase in summer months, from 62 to 72 times a week.
Summer timetable of Charter carriers from Sheremetyevo traditionally represented by such popular holiday destinations as Heraklion, Rhodes, Larnaca, Burgas, Varna, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Monastir, Punta Cana, Aqaba, Bangkok, Phuket and others.
Sheremetyevo International airport is the largest in Russia according to the volume of passenger and cargo traffic, take-off and landing operations and airport area. The route network of Sheremetyevo reaches more than 200 destinations. In 2015 Sheremetyevo served 31 million 612 thousand passengers.
In authoritative rating of British industry agency OAG Sheremetyevo took the second place according to the results of 2015 for the punctuality of flights in category “Medium airports”.
Sheremetyevo is the best airport in Europe in service quality in 2012, 2013 and 2015 by the results of ASQ (Airport Service Quality) rating and ACI (Airports Council International).
Sheremetyevo is the fourfold winner in nomination “The best Russian airport” in Condé Nast Traveller award readers’ choice by the results of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
