The FINANCIAL — Sheremetyevo International Airport summarized the results of cargo operating activities for 9 months of 2017.
The total volume of cargo handled by the airport was over 200 thousand tons. The volume of freight traffic via Sheremetyevo for 9 months of 2017 as compared to the same period in 2016 increased by 39.4%, mail — by 43.1%, according to Sheremetyevo International Airport.
The increase in traffic volume was due to a significant increase in cargo turnover on international air lines. Thus, the volume of cargoes handled by “Moscow Cargo” for 9 months of 2017 increased by 70% compared to the same period of 2016, and their share in the company’s total turnover was more than 70%. The increase in the share of international freight turnover in the freight turnover of “Moscow Cargo” reflects the general trend of the intensive growth of international freight traffic at Sheremetyevo Airport in particular and MOW in general. Domestic air lines for 9 months of 2017 saw an insignificant decrease in freight traffic (3.5%) compared to the same period in 2016.
According to the stats for September 2017, the largest increase in the international air lines was registered in the volume of transfer cargo transported via Sheremetyevo Airport (+ 100% by September 2016). Also, the volume of international air lines imports increased significantly (+ 51% against similar indicators in 2016). At domestic air lines in June 2017 the structure of cargo flows practically did not change.
The main external directions, accounting for more than 50% of the total freight traffic, are China, Germany, the USA, the Netherlands, France, Italy and Israel. Among other areas worth noting are India, South Korea, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
On the internal routes, the main cargo flow has traditionally been to the Far East (Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky) and Yekaterinburg.
The largest increase in the volume of cargo transportation for export and transit in the first 9 months of 2017 was registered in the following directions: Ekaterinburg (SVX), New York (JFK), Tokyo (NRT), Paris (CDG), Tel Aviv (TLV).
The largest growth in the volume of cargo transportation for import and transit in the first 9 months of 2017 was registered in the following directions: Delhi (DEL), Oslo (OSL), Hanoi (HAN), Brussels (BRU), Heathrow (LHR).
