The FINANCIAL — How high is the unemployment rate in March? What's the expenditure for Hartz IV recipients? What measures are being taken to get the unemployed back into work? Employees of the Bundesagentur fĂĽr Arbeit (German Federal Employment Agency) can now answer these and other questions quicker and more efficiently than before.
This is made possible by a web-based data warehouse solution being realized and implemented by Siemens IT Solutions and Services in collaboration with employees of the Bundesagentur fĂĽr Arbeit. In addition, the IT service provider will also be responsible for parts of the maintenance of the IT application. The order will run for three years and is worth a figure in the lower double-digit million euro range.
For statistic, evaluations, reports or analyses the Bundesagentur fĂĽr Arbeit (BA) requires a whole host of data. This information, which was previously kept on 80 different systems, now flows into one central data warehouse. Via a web-based intranet and internet portal, around 14,000 employees at the Bundesagentur fĂĽr Arbeit and from the local authorities have access to all the data for which they have clearance. Through previously defined key figures, the system provides exact details at national, state and municipal level on the employed, job seekers, work performed or support measures granted. The BA also received an accurate target/actual comparison of its agreed goals, for example, for the employment agencies: If an employment agency has integrated fewer job seekers into employment than agreed, then the reasons need to be analyzed and, if necessary, countermeasures initiated.
Siemens IT Solutions and Services was in charge of designing, developing and implementing the entire IT solution for the BA, and also involved in training the users. The IT service provider will also be responsible for maintenance of the application.
