The FINANCIAL — Since the beginning of 2016, Tajikistan reduced the import volumes of flour, but increased the imports of wheat, declared the government press-centre.
According to the announcement, in the Ist quarter of 2016 Tajikistan imported 24.8 thsd tonnes of flour, a decrease of 25.7% compared with the same period last year (33.4 thsd tonnes).
Also, in the Ist quarter of 2016 Tajikistan imported 204.8 thsd tonnes of wheat (up 18.1%). Kazakhstan was the main supplier of wheat and flour on the Tajik market.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, increasing of the domestic production capacities is one of the major reasons for reducing of flour imports.
