The FINANCIAL — According to APK-Inform data, in terms of rather stable demand of importers, in July-February period of 2015/16 MY Ukraine exported nearly 169 thsd tonnes of forage peas, an increase of 21% compared with the same period last season.
India (83.63 thsd tonnes) and Pakistan (23.57 thsd tonnes) became the leaders in purchasing of the Ukrainian pulse. At the same time, during the whole 2014/15 MY the Ukrainian sea ports shipped 53.91 thsd tonnes and 40.02 thsd tonnes of peas to the reporting countries, respectively.
Thus, during the first 8 months of the current season India significantly increased the import volumes of forage peas, and also increased its share in the structure of the crop supplies from Ukraine to 49.5% (up 20% compared with the index during the whole 2014/15 MY).
At the same time, Pakistan reduced the imports of Ukrainian peas, and lowered its share of the crop supplies from Ukraine to 14% in the season-2015/16, against 21.9%. Also, the United Kingdom reduced the crop purchases from 13.7 thsd tonnes in 2014/15 MY to 0.9 thsd tonnes in July-February of the current MY, due to the growth of its domestic production volumes, and thus left the TOP-3 of countries-importers of Ukrainian forage peas.
In addition, the list of five largest importers of Ukrainian peas in 2015/16 MY includes Yemen (9.08 thsd tonnes), Bangladesh (8.02 thsd tonnes) and Kenya (5.52 thsd tonnes).
