The FINANCIAL — Singapore Changi Airport handled 5.18 million passenger movements in July 2016, a 5.9% year-on-year increase.
Aircraft movements were 4.7% higher at 30,790 landings and takeoffs, while cargo shipments rose 9.4% to reach 161,450 tonnes, compared to the same period last year.
For the month of July, all of Changi’s top five country markets achieved growth of at least 5%. Passenger traffic between Singapore and China rose 13.4% – to over half a million passenger movements. Among Changi’s top ten cities, Denpasar (+13.1%) and Melbourne (+20.6%) recorded the strongest growth, according to Singapore Changi Airport.
As at 1 August 2016, more than 100 airlines operate at Changi Airport, connecting Singapore to some 330 cities in about 80 countries and territories worldwide. With more than 6,800 weekly scheduled flights, an aircraft takes off or lands at Changi roughly once every 90 seconds.
