The FINANCIAL — According to RIA Novosti, almost 1,800 passengers of the Russian air company VIM-Avia have been stranded at French Alps Chambery airport due to heavy snow, a company's spokeswoman said on January 10.
"Chambery airport has been closed due to [bad] meteorological conditions since yesterday," the spokeswoman said.
She said two flights to Moscow were to take place on Saturday and another six on January 10, adding a total of 1760 people cannot leave the country.
Only one flight could take place on Sunday, while seven others were postponed to Monday, she added.
Earlier, thousands of air passengers, including Russians, were reported stranded at Geneva airport in Switzerland due to heavy snow.
