The FINANCIAL — Spain’s government said on May 5 the number of people seeking jobless benefits fell last month as the country’s economic recovery strengthened, according to Nasdaq.
The labor ministry said that jobless claims fell in April by 118,923 to 4.33 million. Seasonally adjusted claims fell by 50,160, the best reading ever in any month of April.
Spain’s economy has been steadily expanding since it emerged in mid-2013 from its second recession in five years.
Last year, jobless claims in Spain dropped by 253,627, the largest decrease since the country was hit by a severe economic crisis in 2008.
