The FINANCIAL — Georgian Railway is Georgia’s biggest employer according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia. The company has 12,431 employees and their average monthly salary stands at GEL 680. Age of job applicants is not a limiting factor when it comes to starting work at Georgian Railway, but the average age of employees is getting younger with time.
“Interviewees should be dressed more or less formally for one of our interviews,” said Nino Jugheli, HR Manager of National Bank of Georgia (NBG). “Appearance isn’t vital to us. Other criterions we pay more attention to in the interview are ability to present oneself properly, grounded talk, showing that one has the space for professional growth, proper speech.”
Qualifications, appropriate level of education, experience, teamwork and showing initiative are essential to starting work at NBG as well, which is one of the preferred places for finding work according to a survey of students by The FINANCIAL.
NBG currently has 309 employees and both genders, men and women, are equally welcome at the company depending on their individual skills and abilities.
Jobseekers should apply at: hr@nbg.gov.ge. NBG will be in touch should a vacancy appear that matches the applicant’s qualification.
BP is quite a desirable company to work at for lots of Georgians, so too the majority of foreign companies in the country.
“The interviews are evidence based. In addition to assessing technical competency the examples of certain values and behaviours are sought from the interviewee, such as ability to communicate with respect, decision-making, teamwork etc,” said Leila Mamadova, HR Manager of BP. “Interviewee’s apparel does not influence the hiring decisions at BP.”
Gender is inconsequential for BP, so is age. “Our recruitment is based on merit and the best candidate irrespective of the gender gets the job offer. If a successful candidate is medically fit to perform the job then the offer is made. There is no age limit as such.”
While gender is of no import in the recruitment process at BP, it is more specific for Gulf Georgia, as it needs more technical staff.

“We evaluate hygiene and clothing style with 3 points out of 5; we really pay attention to that aspect. External appearance speaks of how seriously the individual sees the job opportunity,” said Nino Mesablishvili, Head of the HR department.
