The FINANCIAL — Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. on May 12 announced its global powerhouse Sheraton brand will debut in Danang, Vietnam’s third largest city, with the signing of Sheraton Danang Resort, a beachfront property.
Scheduled to open in early 2018, the agreement with Oriental Sea Villas and Hotel Company Ltd follows closely behind the signing of Four Points by Sheraton Danang late last year, signifying the growing presence of Starwood Hotels in the city and the country, according to Starwood Hotels.
“We are excited to introduce the Sheraton brand in Danang, considered one of Vietnam’s most popular vacation spots and the gateway to Vietnam’s central region,” said Lothar Pehl , Senior Vice President, Operations and Global Initiatives, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific. “As the largest and most global brand for Starwood, we are confident that Sheraton Danang is well-positioned to meet the demands of business and leisure travelers alike via the brand’s signature amenities and offerings.”
The Sheraton Danang Resort will be located on the popular white sands of Danang Beach and will feature 250 guestrooms. Upon completion, the hotel will boast 1,066 square meters of meeting and function space, including two ballrooms and five meeting rooms. In addition, the resort will open the Shine Spa for Sheraton alongside one of the brand’s signature restaurants and one other dining venue. Recreation facilities will include a swimming pool and the state-of-the-art Sheraton Fitness.
“Vietnam continues to be among the world’s fastest growing emerging economies and poses many opportunities for our hotel brands,” said Rajit Sukumaran , Senior Vice President of Acquisitions & Development, Asia Pacific. “The signing of Sheraton Danang Resort strengthens the current and growing Starwood footprint in the country and signifies our confidence in the long term growth plan of Vietnam.”
The Sheraton Danang Resort is ideally located 6.2 kilometers from Danang International Airport, the third busiest airport in Vietnam and an important transport hub in the central region. Danang is considered a gateway to several of Vietnam’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Imperial City of Hu?, the Old Town of H?i An, and the M? Son ruins.
“We are very pleased to welcome a worldwide leader in the hotel and resort industry to the area, further solidifying Danang’s dominance as one of Vietnam’s premier destinations for both business and leisure travelers,” stated Mr. Le Minh Phuc , Representative of the Oriental Sea Villas & Hotel Company.
Sheraton Danang Resort will join the Starwood portfolio of four operating properties in Vietnam—Sheraton Hanoi Hotel, Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers, Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel & Spa and the recently opened Le Meridien Saigon —and one more in the pipeline–Four Points by Sheraton Danang.
