The FINANCIAL — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania expresses its concern over the recent developments across the administrational border in Georgia’s Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia involving the placement of the so-called “border signs” there. Such actions may escalate the situation on the ground, negatively affect the local population, restrict their right to free movement and lead to provocations. In general, Russia’s actions point to the reinvigoration of the policy directed against Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Such actions carrying the potential of instability must be avoided as part of the efforts to maintain stability in the region and achieve political resolution of the conflicts in Georgia.
Romania continues to support the policy of peaceful settlement of the conflicts in Georgia’s breakaway regions, in compliance with the norms and principles of international law, and based on respect for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
