The FINANCIAL — Starting September 1, passengers flying from Stockholm Arlanda Airport with Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines or Brussels Airlines can print out their baggage tag at home. The aim is to make passengers’ journey easier from door to door.
Lufthansa has been testing the service at Stockholm Arlanda Airport since early August. Swiss International Airlines and Brussels Airlines started testing the same service at the airport on September 1.
With the new service, Swedavia’s airports are the first in Scandinavia to test baggage tags that passengers themselves print out at home when they check in online. The baggage tags are placed in a plastic pouch that the passenger picks up at the airline’s check-in counter. After this, the bag is checked in as usual. The service makes the passenger’s journey easier and in the long term reduces the need for automated check-in machines at the airports, according to Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
The testing is under way at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Göteborg Landvetter Airport. Later this autumn, Bromma Stockholm Airport will start testing the service. The tests are being evaluated on an ongoing basis by the airlines, IATA and the customs authorities.
