The FINANCIAL — According to RIA Novosti, a strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.6 points hit northern Japan on March 14, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The earthquake struck at 5:08 p.m. local time (08:08 GMT) off the Pacific coast of Fukushima prefecture, seismologists said.
There have been no reports of damage or injuries so far. The tremor was reported to shake buildings in Japan's capital Tokyo.
The Japanese government said there was no danger from tsunamis.
