The FINANCIAL — A workshop was held in Armenia last week on new conservation methods for agriculture, and minimum and no-till soil cultivation technologies, organized by the EU-funded ENPARD technical assistance to the Agriculture Ministry implemented by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation FAO, according to EU Neighbourhood Info.
As a result of climate change, drought, soil degradation, erosion and indiscriminate use of land, Armenia faces a challenge to protect soil microflora, landscape, climate and water quality and of maintaining the fertility of arable land.
The workshop aimed at introducing the advantages of these new technologies and presenting good agricultural practices in cereal production.
The EU is providing financial support of €25 million over three years to Armenia as part of the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development – ENPARD.
