The FiNANCIAL — The National Statistics Office of Georgia conducts a regular survey of water supply enterprises operating in Georgia.
The survey covers every active enterprise providing water supply service in Georgia on the basis of which data is collected on water supply, wastewater collection and wastewater treatment, according to Geostat.
The survey results showed that in 2017, 21 enterprises were involved in water supply activities in Georgia. The volume of water provided to households amounted to 223.4 million cubic metres which is 7.4 percent higher compared to 2016. As of December 31, 2017, the number of population connected to water supply industry amounted to 2.48 million (66.4 %) which is 8.1 percent higher compared to 2016.
In 2017, the number of population connected to a wastewater collecting system increased by 4.9 percent compared to the year prior and amounted to 1.81 million (48.6 %), while the number of population connected to a wastewater treatment facilities increased by 8.8 percent compared to previous year and million (48.6 %), while the number of population connected to a wastewater treatment facilities increased by 8.8 percent compared to previous year and reached 1.38 million (36.9 %).
