The FINANCIAL — In addition to providing 24/7 quality power, Tata Power has consistently ensured lowest tariff for Mumbai residential consumers using up to 300 units of power per month, according to Tata Sons Ltd.
Serving around 4.5 lakh consumers in Mumbai, Tata Power is the fastest growing power utility in the city and has achieved its sustainability intent of ‘leadership with care’ demonstrating ‘care for its customers’. Tata Power consumers using electricity below 300 units category enjoy lowest tariff not only in the city but across the country. Tata Power’s tariff as approved by the state regulator is fixed charge at Rs40 and variable charge at Rs2.13 for 0-100; and fixed charge at Rs75 and variable charge at Rs3.62 for 101-300 units.
As per the tariff orders for the three key power distribution utilities operating in Mumbai (excluding MSEDCL which also distributes power across limited pockets in suburban Mumbai), out of the total consumer base of around 40 lakh households, more than 70 percent fall in the category of those consuming 300 units or less per month, according to Tata Sons Ltd.
Thus, the low tariff from companies such as Tata Power for such consumer category is a boon for the common man of Mumbai. Out of Tata Power’s total consumer base of around 4.5 lakh, consumers below 300 units account for almost 65 percent of Tata Power’s total consumers in the city.
