The FINANCIAL — The Telenor telecommunication company, Norway, rules our re-branding of the Kyivstar mobile communications operator after combining its holdings with Altimo (Russia), Thor Halvorsen, Executive Vice President of Telenor for Central and Eastern Europe, has announced to the press.
"We have not re-branding plans as of now," he said.
As to Halvorsen, Kyivstar will not change or withhold its plans for the company development.
In his words, the deal between Telenor and Altimo demands recall all the labour disputes involving both sides.
Halvorsen says that in case more disputes arouse between the shareholders after the deal is closed, the London Court of International Arbitration will handle those.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Russia's Altimo and Telenoragreed upon combining the VimpelCom mobile communications operator, Russia, and Kyivstar.
Altimo's subsidiary Farimex asked an arbitration court in the Khanti-Mansiysk autonomous region of Russia in April 2008 to order Telenor to pay USD 3.8 billion to Farimex as compensation for blocking an attempt by VimpelCom to acquire the Ukrainian Radio systems company. Farimex claimed that it incurred financial losses as a result of the delay in acquiring Ukrainian Radio systems.
The case still goes through appellate courts.
Telenor also owns a 56.51% of the shares in the Kyivstar mobile communication company, 18.3% of the shares in the Golden Telecom company (Russia), and 26.6% of the shares in VimpelCom (Russia).
Telenor also owns a 50-percetn plus one share in the EDB Business Partner information-technology company (Norway), which is the majority shareholder in Miratech and Infopulse Ukraine.
VimpelCom owns 100% of the shares in Ukrainian Radio systems, which provides mobile communications services under the Beeline brand name.
