The FINANCIAL — TeliaSonera International Carrier has expanded its extensive international backbone further into Central & Eastern Europe by setting up a point of presence in Bucharest, Romania.
Customers will benefit from the availability of high quality IP services and the ability to connect locally to Europe’s largest and fastest growing IP backbone.
“Further expansion into the Balkans and Eurasia will be strategically important if we are to fulfil our ambition and become one of the three largest global IP carriers” says Malin Frenning Senior Vice President of TeliaSonera and Head of TeliaSonera International Carrier. ”Our expansion into Romania is a tangible sign of our belief in the local market, and Central & Eastern Europe as a whole”.
Last year, TeliaSonera International Carrier opened a point of presence in Sofia, Bulgaria, and continue to explore further possible expansions in the Central & Eastern European region. Romania with a population of 21 million is one of the region’s fastest growing industrial centres and transportation hubs. The need for IP solutions is increasing as a result of increased Internet usage.
