The FINANCIAL — Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn.
At the bilateral meeting the two ministers discussed a variety of issues relating to Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Jean Asselborn highly appraised the ongoing reforms in Georgia and reaffirmed his government’s firm support for Georgia’s European path.
Discussions focused on the bilateral relations between Georgia and Luxembourg. The need to fully develop the potential of trade-economic relations and facilitate business-to-business contacts was also highlighted. It was stressed in this light that Georgia has successfully established its reputation as an investment-friendly country and a regional hub for the implementation of large-scale economic (transport, energy) projects.
At the bilateral meeting Janelidze and Asselborn discussed human rights violations in Georgia’s occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, including the tragic death of Archil Tatunashvili who fell victim to Russia’s occupation and annexation policy. Jean Asselborn expressed his deep concern over this fact reaffirming Luxembourg’s firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
At the end of the meeting the foreign ministers of the two countries held a joint press conference, according to MFA of Georgia.
