The FINANCIAL — The fourth round of bilateral political consultations was held between the Foreign Ministries of Georgia and the Republic of Korea in Seoul, on 18 December 2015. Deputy Foreign Minister Davit Jalagania headed the Georgian delegation during the consultations while the Korean side was led by Park Chul-min of the European Affairs Bureau.
The two delegations discussed a wide range of issues concerning bilateral and multilateral co-operation, including in the areas of trade, economy, investments, energy, transport, agriculture, culture, sport, education and other areas, positively appraising the growing dynamics that has been generated by the recent exchange of high-level visits between the two countries as well as by the efforts to further develop the existing bilateral legislative framework and to enhance co-operation in culture and tourism. Davit Jalagania expressed his appreciation to the Korean Government for the opening of the Tbilisi Office of the Korean Embassy to Georgia expressing the hope that this will contribute to the further deepening friendly and partner relations between the two countries. The sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue close co-operation within the framework of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Korean Foundation (KF). The participants of the consultations also emphasized the importance of further continuing fruitful cooperation within the framework of international organizations.
Within the framework of the political consultations, the Georgian delegation held a meeting was with Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Hong-Kyun. Davit Jalagania thanked his Korean counterpart for the Korean Government’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity emphasizing the increasing levels of co-operation between the countries and the importance of setting up an inter-government economic commission, which will allow the parties to develop more fruitful co-operation in various areas, according to MFA of Georgia.
