The FINANCIAL — On 9-10 March 2016, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Gigi Gigiadze paid a working visit to the Republic of Austria, according to MFA of Georgia.
In the frames of the visit, Gigi Gigiadze held meetings with Austrian Foreign Ministry’s International Affairs Director General, Ambassador Alexander Marschik; Director General for Legal and Consular Affairs, Ambassador Elisabeth Tichy-Fisslberger; and Head of Foreign Police, Civil Protection and Disaster Prevention Group of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, Johann Bezdeka.
Discussions focused on bilateral and multilateral co-operation between Georgia and Austria, Georgia’s European integration, the achieved progress and priorities, the current development in Georgia’s occupied territories, the current situation in the region and relations with the neighboring countries.
Gigi Gigiadze thanked the Austrian side for the decision to open the Embassy in Tbilisi and expressed the hope that the Austrian diplomatic mission will promote the enhancement of the existing close co-operation between the two countries. In this context, the sides underlined the importance of strengthening the trade-economic co-operation and the need to make maximum use of the deep and comprehensive free trade component. Talking points also included the established successful interagency co-operation and the necessity of its further enhancement.
The Austrian side reaffirmed its strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and the European integration; and expressed the readiness to support Georgia in realisation of European aspirations and to promote bilateral and multilateral co-operation between Georgia and Austria.
In the frames of the visit, Gigi Gigiadze attended the opening ceremony of the Tbilisi architectural heritage exhibition, organised by the Vienna Insurance Group „Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein“ to mark the 25th anniversary of restoration of Georgia’s independence and addressed the attending audience.
