The FINANCIAL — The Georgian Government delegation led by the Prime Minister concluded its visit to the Italian Republic. Commenting on the visit, Georgian Foreign Minister said that the visit which was of historical importance provides yet another proof that Georgia. As a democratic country is part of Europe.
Within the framework of the visit on 8 and 9 March 2017, the Georgian delegation held meetings with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, President of the Senate Pietro Grasso, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Angelino Alfano and Minister of Economic Development Carlo Calenda, according to MFA of Georgia.
Discussions during the meeting focused on bilateral relations between Georgia and Italy, as well as on the need to further deepen co-operation in such areas as economy, agriculture, energy and tourism. The Italian side expressed its interest in implementing business projects and investments in Georgia. The Italian side reaffirmed its strong support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its European and Euro-Atlantic integration and congratulated Georgia on the successful finalization of the visa liberalization.
The Georgian delegation also took part in the first business forum between Georgia and Italy. Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili introduced Italian businesspersons to some of the features of Georgia’s attractive business environment, including low rates, light market regulations, easy physical and normative market access, the DCFTA with the EU, the country’s geostrategic location, high-speed train system and highways, and ongoing reforms seeking to promote economic growth and businesses. The forum brings together over 250 leading Italian and Georgian businesses.
