The FINANCIAL — Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with Honourable Minister of Civil Aviation of the Republic of India Sri Ashok Gajapathi Raju, who paid a working visit to Georgia, specifically authorized by his government to hold negotiations on a broad spectrum of issues with the Georgian side.
During the meeting the Georgian Foreign Minister and the Indian Minister of Civil Aviation spoke about important issues relating to bilateral and multilateral relations, including in the areas of trade and economy, investments, transport, education and culture, according to MFA of Georgia.
The sides positively assessed the bilateral political consultations held at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers in Tbilisi, on 25 and 26 July as well as co-operation within the framework of the Georgian-Indian Intergovernmental Economic Cooperation Commission, reaffirming the readiness to further promote the fruitful interaction between the sides in the aforesaid formats, as well as towards intensifying parliamentary and people-to-people contacts.
The sides spoke about the necessity of signing an air traffic agreement between Georgia and India in the near future expressing the intention to prepare a document on free trade and carry out a respective feasibility study.
Within the framework of the Indian delegation’s visit to Georgia, bilateral meetings with President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and First Vice Premier, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili. Sri Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Dimitri Kumsishvili signed Memorandum of Intent to enhance cooperation between India and Georgia on Civil Aviation Matters.
