The FINANCIAL — Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with members of the European Parliament. The delegation of the European Parliament arrived in Georgia as part of the third meeting of the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee.
The sides discussed the issues on the association agenda, as well as priorities of EU-Georgia co-operation. The importance of the European Parliament’s support for granting Georgian citizens visa-free travel with the EU was also highlighted. In this context Mikheil Janelidze emphasized the European Parliament’s particularly positive role and expressed the hope that legal procedures for visa liberalization will be completed soon.
Special mention was made of the European Parliament’s support for Georgia in achieving its European integration goals, especially after the Association Agreement came into force. The sides also underlined the importance of enhancing the parliamentary dimension as well as deepening co-operation within the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee, according to MFA of Georgia.
Members of the European Parliament reaffirmed their firm support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and European aspirations.  The sides emphasized the importance of further intensifying the dialogue and co-operation with a view to contributing Georgia’s rapprochement with the European Union.
