The FINANCIAL — On 14 July 2016, Batumi hosted a meeting between Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze and Second President of the National Council of the Republic of Austria Karlheinz Kopf.
Talking points included the positive dynamics of relations and bilateral and multilateral co-operation between Georgia and Austria. The two sides underlined the importance of opening the Embassy of Austria in Tbilisi, according to MFA of Georgia.
Mikheil Janelidze thanked Karlheinz Kopf for Austria’s unequivocal support of Georgia’s European aspirations and territorial integrity.  Â
The sides highlighted the entry into force of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, including DCFTA, and underlined that it will give a new impetus to the enhancement of bilateral co-operation, particularly, to the development of economic ties and will further strengthen successful co-operation between the two countries in the spheres of energy, environment security, culture and education.
Discussions also focused on the ongoing developments in Georgia’s occupied territories and efforts of the Government of Georgia to resolve the conflict peacefully, on the current situation in the region as a whole and on the relations with the neighbouring countries.  Mikheil Janelidze and Karlheinz Kopf spoke about the priorities of the Austrian OSCE Chairmanship in 2017.Â
In the frames of the Batumi Conference,  the Second President of the National Council of the Republic of Austria also held meetings with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Speaker of the Parliament David Usupashvili, First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and  Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili and State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration David Bakradze . On 15 July,  Karlheinz Kopf will visit the Austrian companies working in Georgia. Â
Karlheinz Kopf, who is on his visit to Georgia on 14-15 July, is taking part in the 13th International Conference “Georgia’s European Way – Stability, Development and Diversity”.
It should be noted that this the third visit of the Austrian official to Georgia  since 2014.  Â
