The FINANCIAL — On 14 December 2015, Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili held an introductory meeting with Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Georgia Axel Wech (with residence in Baku), according to MFA of Georgia.
Discussions focused on the bilateral relations between Georgia and Austria, on Georgia’s integration with the European and Euro-Atlantic structures and on the current developments in Georgia and in the region as a whole.
The Foreign Minister positively assessed the existing close partner relations between the two countries in the political, trade and economic, cultural and other spheres; underlined the need to make maximum use of economic co-operation potential that provides for further interest of the Austrian business circles in Georgia and for attraction of Austrian investments to our country. In this context, Giorgi Kvirikashvili expressed the hope that opening the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Tbilisi, in 2016 will give a new impetus to the enhancement of bilateral relations between Georgia and Austria.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked Axel Wech for the strong support of Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and European aspirations; and underlined that visa liberalisation will significantly promote the strengthening of bilateral co-operation both with the EU and certain member states.
Axel Wech, in turn, reaffirmed the readiness of the Austrian Government to facilitate the further enhancement of bilateral co-operation with Georgia and focused on the increasing interest of the Austrian companies’ in economic and investment potential of Georgia.
