The FINANCIAL — On 11 November 2015, Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils MuiĹľnieks, according to MFA of Georgia.
Discussions focused on the current situation and ongoing processes in terms of human rights in Georgia’s occupied territories. Talking points also included the facts of human rights violation at the administrative border.
Following the visit to the occupation line, Nils MuiĹľnieks shared his impressions with Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights took an interest in the existing co-operation between the European Union and Georgia and focused on the effects of this co-operation on people living in the occupied territories. At the same time, the two sides underlined the need to continue the EU confidence-building projects in Georgia’s occupied territories. The security environment in the region was also discussed.
In the frames of the visit, the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights will hold meetings with the representatives of the executive, legislative and judicial branches as well as with the members of the Government of the Achara Autonomous Republic. Nils MuiĹľnieks will also meet the Public Defender of Georgia and the representatives of local non-governmental organisations.
