The FINANCIAL — Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Shalva Tsiskarashvili was elected Vice President of the UN Human Rights Council at the organisational session of the eleventh cycle of the UN Human Rights Council.
Georgia, which was elected to this position for the first time, will carry out the Vice President’s functions during 2017, according to MFA of Georgia.
Georgia’s Permanent Representative, together with the President of the Council and other members of the bureau will take part in the development of organizational and procedural issues and will chair the meetings.
In 2017, representatives of Egypt, Iraq and Switzerland will fulfill the functions of co-vice-presidents.
Georgia has been elected as a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the years of 2016-2018.
