The FINANCIAL — The European Affluent expect Hillary Clinton to have a more positive impact on the world economy, global peace and security, and issues relating to their own country. The majority of Europe’s Affluent are keeping a close watch on the news around the elections, according to the Ipsos Affluent Survey Europe (July ‘till October 2016).
Only the Russian Affluent would vote for Trump
Most European Affluents (72%) and non-Affluents (61%) would vote for Hillary Clinton if they had a vote in the American elections. Only 1 out of 10 (11%) Affluents would vote for Trump as president. At a national level, Trump ‘wins’ in Russia. Not all Affluents have a preference when asked what to vote. 18% of Affluents are indecisive. This percentage is quite low when compared to 32% of European non-affluents that have no preference.
Expectation is that Hillary Clinton would have a more positive impact
In line with the upscale Europeans’ President Candidate preference, they believe Hillary would have a more positive impact on global peace and security (70%), the world economy (64%) and issues that are important to their own country (61%). Only 1 out of 10 Affluents claim Trump would have a positive impact on these matters.
European Affluent follow the news about the US elections
Two-third (67%) of the European Affluents are actively following the news around the elections. Amongst the non-Affluents the general interest in the elections is lower, but half of them (49%) are still following the developments closely. At a national level, the German Affluents are most active following the news around the elections (82%). Czech and Hungarian Affluents are least active followers of the news (44%).
